Wondering how to navigate through 1,300 Forum events in five days? The new IUCN Congress app makes it easy.
Enhance your IUCN Congress experience with the IUCN Congress mobile app, sponsored by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
The app enables participants to schedule and network efficiently within the world’s largest and most diverse environmental network. You can also use it to explore IUCN’s work on specific Sustainable Development Goals and targets like sustainable management and use of natural resources, ecosystem protection and restoration, life below water and life on land, women’s empowerment and more.
The desktop version is available online for registered participants. Log in now using your email address as your username and registration confirmation number as your password and start connecting with people, plan your personal agenda, share events and info on social media and more.
A tailor-made experience
Navigating through over 1,000 events, from high-level dialogues to training workshops, knowledge cafés to official receptions, it can be overwhelming. The IUCN Congress mobile app enables participants to build a customised programme well ahead of the Congress, one that includes all the events most relevant or interesting to you. You can search the programme by date, title, event type or preferred language.
The app will include a map of the local area and public transport options as well as a map of the venue so you can see the easiest way to get from one session to the next. You can discover who is speaking at the main events, read their profiles, check out the latest IUCN Congress news and see any last-minute changes to sessions so there’s no risk of missing the action.
A star feature of the app is being able to see who else is going to the IUCN Congress so you can plan your interaction in advance. You can search participants by name, country or organisation, or by area of expertise such as forest conservation or environmental law.
The app includes a messaging service so that you can exchange messages with other participants, even after the Congress has finished. So there’s no need to collect a pile of business cards and risk losing the ones that could lead to critical partnerships! You can use the app to connect with other participants ahead of the IUCN Congress and arrange to meet them on site.
Those who don’t have a smartphone or tablet will not miss out. You can view the app on your laptop and numerous internet stations will be dotted around the Hawai’i Convention Center to allow users to consult the programme online, and electronic screens will display the day’s events and schedule changes.
Your Green Congress
The app is central to the My Green Congress efforts to minimise the event’s environmental impact. Read more about the collaborative efforts to serve as much locally sourced food as possible, divert waste from landfills, repurpose wasted food and minimise energy consumption throughout the IUCN Congress.
Thanks to the app’s forward-thinking sponsors
IUCN Congress organisers are grateful to the generous support of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative in developing the app.
Working with a diverse network of people and organisations, SFI promotes conservation at the intersection of sustainable forests, thriving communities and responsible procurement. The SFI community includes conservation groups, local communities, resource professionals, landowners, manufacturers, civil society, and others who share a passion for and commitment to sustainable forest management.
"Clean water, climate action and biodiversity are key areas for SFI. We are looking forward to the IUCN Congress as a way to help build SFI's own conservation knowledge and capacity and enable us to contribute to global goals as they relate to the conservation of working forests," said Paul Trianosky, Chief Conservation Officer at SFI.
The downloadable version of the app, compatible with iPhone, Android phone, iPad, and BlackBerry, will be available at the beginning of August on the IUCN Congress website.
